Frozen Pigskin!?!

Good morning on this momentous Monday, if you haven't heard  about the latest 'dome collapse' ( I say latest because it has happened two other times before in the 1980's) it was made apparent early on that it would be impossible to have the roof fixed in one week for the Vikings final home game. So what do they do? well....wanting to have their last home game played at home and not at a neutral site they prepared the TCF Bank Stadium on the U of M campus. This turned out to be no easy task with 5ft snowdrifts inside the stadium. In addition to that, the concession stands were never made to operate in temperatures below 30 degrees. In the end, it looks like all of the issues have been addressed and solved to the best of their ability.

If you are one of the many fans attending the game tonight you are going to want to dress warm! It will be in the 20's and snowing all day today and into Tuesday. So with the field set, its time to get ready and watch the first outdoor vikings game in 29 years!
Go Vikings !!!

The game will be aired on ESPN at 7:30pm tonight

Favre falls as Jackson helps Vikings crush the Bills 38-14

Good Afternoon, It was another exciting weekend for sports in America! The Vikings move to 2-0 under interim head coach Leslie Frazier, The Steelers come back in the 4th quarter to beat their bitter rivals (Baltimore Ravens), and of course Tiger Woods finished 2nd to Graeme McDowell at the Chevron World Challenge after missing a put to extend the playoffs on the 73rd hole.

First off, I have to give a tip of my hat to Tarvaris Jackson who despite throwing 3 interceptions was able to get the job done while throwing 2 TD passes to Sidney Rice. Jackson really stepped up when it counted and although there is improvement to be made, he played a great game.
Next up! Adrian Peterson!!! This man is truly impressive! Peterson rushed for over 100 yards and 3 TDs on a bad ankle as the vikings torched the Bills. "You've got to be kidding me?!" even on a bad ankle this guy can put up those numbers! "You bet!" two words... ALL DAY.
Last but not least Brett Favre! During the first series of the game Favre took a huge hit and was helped off the field for the remainder of the game. Now the question on everyones mind is "will he play next week?" and "Will his streak of 297 consecutive starts come to an end?" My prediction...probably not. If Favre is healthy enough to play he will. Judging by what the past says...Favre will most likely play.
It is amazing what a difference a coaching change can make as the vikings are beginning to play like the team they were 1 year ago. All I can say is keep it up Vikings!

I have to give one more tip of the hat to Tiger Woods who despite coming in second showed some good signs of improvement. On top of that he was actually happy with how he played after leading for 3 rounds and then placing second. He is making a turn for the better and reemerging as a better golfer and man. Keep it up Tiger and 20+ major wins is not to far away.

Have a great rest of the day!

A Star to Follow - Trans-Siberian Orchestra

Now I know it isn't Monday. But that doesn't take away the fact that this is a great song. With the Holidays just around the corner it is time to start getting into the Christmas spirit.
With out further adieu, I say "Ring the Bells! Ring the Bells! Let the Churches Ring the Bells!" and have a great rest of the week.

Hello Leslie Frazier, Goodbye Brad Childress!

If you are like me and like to watch football and follow your favorite teams. You're probably thinking "WTF!? what happened to the Vikings this year?!" Well... In order answer that question we need to look at what goes on during the week and not just on Sunday. Most people seem to believe that the Vikings were losing because they were dysfunctional. The reason isn't clear, but it is a safe say that the players did not respect Childress as a coach. His methods just weren't cutting it anymore and it was clearly time for a change.

Below I posted a link that has an interesting take on why Brad Childress's failure was inevitable. Enjoy!

Have the Vikings Fallen Out of the Race to the Super Bowl?

http://sports.espn.go.com/blog/nfcnorth/post/_/id/19523/and-then-there-were-two

As much as I hate to say it, the deck is stacked against them. The choice that must be made now is if the vikings should start preparing for next season and make a major coaching change right now or stay with what they have and continue to make a run at the super bowl. It is not impossible let, but it sure won't be easy.

Sport Report! November 8, 2010

Good Morning, I have a lot to cover on this weeks' 'sports breakdown'. Starting off with the Minnesota Vikings and there overtime win over the Arizona Cardinals. "Wait what?! the vikings can win?!" Yeah, Shocking Right?. Even more surprising was watching Brett Favre (at the age of 41)  throw for a career high of 446 passing yards, 2 TDs and 2 INTs. Really?! This guy is a machine! For him to go out and play his best game of the season on a fractured ankle is incredible. Of course, I can't forget about the stellar performance of the defense, and the great performances made by Adrian Peterson, Percy Harvin, and Visanthe Shiancoe.  The Vikings overcame the challenges presented to them and went on to win 27-24 (moving them to a record of 3-5).
Next up! Tiger Woods makes a run up the leader board at the HSBC tournament in Shanghai on Sunday. However, it didn't prove to be enough for him to win as he shot a 4-under 68 putting him in a tie for 6th. Tiger finished the tournament at 7-under par (68-72-73-68). Not bad really,  Tiger looks good right now and it won't be long until he is back to his winning ways. My Prediction: I expect Tiger Woods to be take back the #1 world ranking after a win at the 2011 Masters. Meanwhile, Lee Westwood came in 2nd to Francesco Molinari. Each of them finishing with a score of -18 and -19 respectively. Francesco Molinari became the first Italian golfer to win a PGA tour event. While Lee Westwood put on a strong performance to maintain his position as the best golfer in the world.
Last but not least, we have the Minnesota Wild with a record of 7-4-2. The Wild are in second place in the division (2 points behind the Vancouver Canucks). Their next game is on Thursday November, 11 against the Atlanta Thrashers @7pm. LETS GO WILD!

Thats all I have in sports. So have a great week and stay classy.
